La Quinta has about 900 properties in total, including all the hotels the brand franchises and manages. However, note that the brand own none of them. And now, Wyndham is going to acquire La Quinta, making it the largest hotel group in terms of the number of properties. Putting this cherry on the sundae, Wyndham will have over 9,000 hotels, spanning 21 brands, in more than 75 countries. But keep in mind, if we are talking about the numbers of room to decide the largest hotel brand in the world, the title goes to Marriott. The acquisition is expected to close in the second quarter of 2018.
There can only be one lion king in the jungle, one alpha male in the house, so there can just be one airline running the hub in one city. Put into the case, Delta is doing everything in their power to squash Alaska Airlines in their home city of Seattle, by forcing Korean Airlines to end their partnership with Alaska Airlines. Don’t be surprised, Korean Air isn’t the first one to dump Alaska in this scramble and before there were Air France-KLM and Aeromexico, whose stocks are partially held by Delta. Worry not, Alaska still got a firm, global partnership and Asian carriers to expand to, like shaking hands with Finnair, Singapore Airlines, Condor, and Japan Airlines.
